The new Bios chip is inserted, the board functioned
however not yet.
If the PC gives still no indication of itself, examine
please the following points:
- Is the chip really correctly inserted around?
Otherwise, it is probably now defective!
- Did you delete the CMOS RAM?
It could be otherwise that the board does not bootet
despite the new Bios, because in the CMOS RAM still attitudes are
stored, which are incompatible with the new Bios. In your board
guidance is located, as one makes the deletion. Sometimes it is
called also the "CLEAR RTC". Normally the deletion happens with
the help of a Jumpers. With some boards only two solder tacks
are present, which must be short circuit. If necessary it helps
to remove the battery for some days. Is important with all
methods: Always power supply plugs pull!
- Do all Jumper and Switches stand on default?
An examination worth is also the position of the Jumper.
Often it helps to set everything to mechanism or default.
Sometimes it brings success, if you stop only times a lower
clock frequency!
- Was it completely safe the correct file?
Power of the manufacturers evtl. Distinctions
between different versions? Rather check on the board, instead
of relying on data in the manual. The search of the type of
board on the basis the seriennummer is not also always reliable.
Many Main boards are OEM versions of the large manufacturers.
Refrain better to use the Originalbios. That does not fold
in all cases!
- Does the PC switch off and equivalent again?
That is then with high probability because of the taut
exhaust monitoring. Some board manufacturers inserted a security
against defective exhausts. If it does not run, the PC switches
off for the protection of the CCU. Some exhausts, particularly
quite large turn slowly, the board recognize thereby no correct number
of revolutions signal.
- Did the board go before definitely?
Failed update attempts because of the wrong version,
because of power failure or because the PC during the procedure fell,
are always reparable. With boards with e-bay etc. with the
indication "defectively after Bios updates" were ersteigert, are not
according to experience to be repaired, here is the update often only
one pretext failed. There are zigtausend construction units on a
Main board, which can be defective. With Notebooks, which were
already times opened, also no success warranty can be given.
- Does a message at the screen appear?
If the screen with the whole information about the
hardware appears etc. after switching on on, also the Bios functions.
The error is to be looked for elsewhere! It is it comes
the reference "Rome Bios Checksum error". There tunes which with
the Bios chip not. The message "CMOS RAM Checksum error" or
"CMOS option emergency set" is by the way normal. Here only the
attitudes of the Bios must be made. A great help is www.bios info.de. Everything is there avowed. There is a book
concerning it to buy there also.
